Romanby Scarecrow Festival

The Romanby* Women's Institute (WI) was established in 1928 and every year, amongst other events, they run the Romanby Scarecrow Festival. Apart from the usual letterbox top decorations a number of houses, schools and businesses in the area display scenes using scarecrows. The public are encouraged to walk the trail and vote on their favourite. 

There are a few links between the ladies of the WI and the gents at the Men's Shed, hence we had a stall outside the hall of our work. Not sure how much of our work will be sold considering folk will prefer to spend their cash on the teas and cakes inside...

*Romanby is a village that has been swallowed up by the ever expanding Northallerton.
