Great Spotted Woodpecker

We have pretty much no woodland on the islands so no woodpeckers. But there seems to be eight or more migrating though just now. Probably continental birds swept along on strong easterlies. I went to look for the kingfisher in Stromness, another visitor, but no luck. Did get more waxwings, about 25. On the way back to Kirkwall I had a walk through the small planted woodland at Binscarth and found the woodpeckers. The main shot is a female. A young male also appeared. See extras.
