Paint The Park Pink Day
It was Paint The Park Pink Day for this afternoon’s match between Yeovil and Braintree Town, as the club raised money for the local hospital’s proposed Breast Cancer Unit. The hospital’s charity had raised over £2m already and needed a further £40000 to reach their target.
Just before kick off it was announced that the club’s fund raising efforts, including selling the limited edition pink kit that the players wore for the occasion, had raised £20000 and that the club chairman and players were donating the remaining £20000 required.
A great result, as was Yeovil’s 2-0 in atrocious conditions: torrential rain all afternoon turned the pitch into a quagmire and it was all players could do to keep their feet by the end of the game.
Having taken a first half lead with an exquisite lob from outside the area, Yeovil had to do a lot of desperate defending like that in the blip, before breaking away to score in the 90th minute, from the player who di the same in Tuesday night’s match.
That’s ten wins in a row now and six points clear at the top of the table. Never were such days!
