Warning: Vulgar Working Types' Residence: Avoid

On This Day In History
1908: Queen of American High Society, Caroline Webster Schermerhorn Astor, dies

Quote Of The Day
"... there are few of the better class who are not possessed of an instinctive repugnance for the vulgar forms of labour ..... It is felt by all persons of refined taste that a spiritual contamination is inseperable from certain offices that are conventionally required of servants. Vulgar surroundings, mean (that is to say, inexpensive) habitations, and vulgarly productive occupations are unhesitatingly condemned and avoided."
(Thorstein Veblen, The Theory Of The Leisure Class )

Not ashamed to admit that I had a vulgarly productive day at work.
Thank goodness elitist attitudes such as Veblen described no longer exist today. (SARCASM! SARCASM!)
I can't help but wonder, did Caroline Webster Schermerhorn Astor ever go to the toilet, or did she have servants for that?

Gooorrrrn!
