Oak autumn
Our oak tree (grown from a local acorn) refuses to give up its leaves as this frozen autumn continues. This is not a good thing as the tree needs those nutrients that are locked up in those leaves. However, I think it looks rather beautiful with that mix of gold and green.
The snow is very slowly melting away but when the thermometer barely gets above the zero mark it's possible the snow will stay until the real winter begins.
This evening Rose and I went to the cinema in town and watched the film "Killers of the flower moon". It's a somewhat harrowing film and neither Jan nor Ruth wanted to see it. It got a 5 stars from Peter Bradshaw in the Guardian, and was also, in the same paper, Wendy Ide recently made it her "Film of the week". Anyway, I thought it a brilliant film, the three-and-a-half hours flew by, and I will definitely go and see it again, though not this week.
