Final day in Austria
Unfortunately tomorrow I ship out of Austria, across my beloved Germany and into Belgium.
The views are great, the air is clear, it's quiet and the way of life is deeply rooted in family and tradition. I never thought I would be particularly taken with Austria, but I'm very sad to be leaving.
This picture sums up the inhabited landscapes on the mountains. Trees are cleared for farming grass for the deers and for providing skiing during the snowy seasons. It's crisp, clear, and old and worldly wonderful.
Bye bye Austria, your sauerkraut might be naff but you bloody well know how to do landscapes.
