The Wedding - Homeward Bound

Everyone seemed wide awake and fully recharged this morning. Maybe the extra hour in bed helped!

We had a very nice breakfast in a large private room with the happy couple and bridesmaids, daughter#1 and family, and our friends N&D and L&P.

Most of us had booked taxis for 12 noon to get to the airport for the 4pm flight home. There was plenty of time and the weather was still super sunny so we had a stroll down through Aying to the station. Rory showed us the way as he had been there the night before with his dad! He just loves trains.

My main blip is a distant view of the Alps from one of the windows in our room, the extra is a tractor that caught my eye down near the station.

As a final goodbye to Germany (this time) we had bratwurst mit pommes and schnitzels at the airport. It was the first time that the grandsons had flown so it was exciting for them.

As usual we had problems with the biometric passport machines at Heathrow. I think the one we used was just about to pack up. It took three attempts for me to get through and mrsfb's just wouldn't register so she had to go through a manual desk where she was interrogated before being allowed back in. I really don't understand why the border control people have to be so rude.

And after 4 such lovely days in Germany it was nice to drive out of the car park into some typical UK rain!

The drive home was OK, though we felt as though we had been away for 4 weeks rather than 4 days.
