Sad but happy
We both slept a little poorly as the bed in the hotel was softer than we are used to but weren’t too tired when we woke. I’d asked for 30 minutes grace on our checkout time if 11 and was pleased when there wasn’t an issue with staying beyond the 11am checkout. After breakfast we got organised and were just parking up at the funeral home when I spotted my nieces arriving. It might not have been the done thing but it was good to catch up with them.
The service was handled very professionally by the humanist celebrant who read out a poem chosen by Angela’s niece to celebrate her mother and a letter from Annabel’s husband. The slideshow helped us to feel like we knew the lady we were there to commemorate. She was much loved by family and friends.
After the service we headed over to the golf club for a bowl of soup up and a sandwich. We were able to meet Angela’s family and give our condolences before joining some of my brother’s friends to chat.
We stayed rather longer than antigens are only now almost home at 8pm.
I’m looking forward to viewing the TinyTuesday entries in the morning.
