Another Classic View

Had a really good nights sleep in our new hotel. Breakfast was also superb and we sat out in the courtyard to eat it, next to the breakfast room where all the goodies were. The eggs were spot on, great freshly cooked pancakes and many other favourites at the buffet style breakfast.

As the forecast was rain for this morning (Monday), we decided to add some culture to the holiday with a trip to the Doge’s Palace. I must admit before I went I had no idea what a ‘Doge’ was!! I certainly do now! What a place ! Oh the treasures and the stories- and walking over the Bridge of Sighs named as the prisoners walking over it would sigh as they went down to the prison rooms.

The largest paining in the world - Il Paradiso covers one wall in the great room of the palace. There was so many interesting pieces and I have learned loads being there.

We left there, starving, and headed to a restaurant near our hotel. I had a delicious Greek salad and S had a pizza. We met a couple with their two kids on the next table who are part of a dance troupe, from Mississippi, called Maxim. They are touring Europe but sadly never performed in U.K.! I looked them on you tube and I would def go and see them.

We went back to the hotel and had a cuppa and a relax before heading back out . We walked along the little narrow lanes, down to the Rialto bridge- picking up a gelato in the way, and some nice chocolates which we thought would take home but we ate them all . Got as far as Bridge of Sighs again and another pic this time in the dark.

Another fab day - home tomorrow (Tuesday).
