In the frame
What a day!
Spoilt for choice today, with three classes in working with James Watt at the Beacon Arts Centre, and what a setting for the school workshops with one wall of glass to the river.
The first school in the morning was P6 Gourock PS and having listened to the artist, the pupils set about researching puffers online, recording their reactions to the paintings on audio and video, designing puffers of the future, and all the while, tweeting about what they were doing.
P4 St Fillan's PS came in at lunchtime and arrived with a plethora of questions for the artist. They had been looking at his paintings in school and were full of whys and hows and whats. Encouraged to be inquisitive, they arrived ready to take up the challenge.
And on into the afternoon and it was the turn of P5 All Saints PS. The pupils listened intently about the 'psychology of vision' and then started to try out the ideas. The boys in the photo are using their hands to select what to include in the 'frame' of their drawings, narrowing the spectacular view to create their own world... and that world changed as ships appeared going up and down the river.
P6 Gourock PS, P4 St Fillan's PS, P5 All Saints PS you behaved impeccably today! Confident individuals? Effective contributors? Responsible citizens? Successful learners? Absolutely no doubt!
