Sugar is sweeter

I had the misfortune to require a visit to my local refurbished, re-branded Scotmid in order to meet the requirements of three packed lunches. One of these may well have been appreciated by at least one receiver of said lunches, but alas they only caught my eye as I made my grateful exit. 89p for a jam doughnut? What has the world come to? I was aggrieved enough at paying £1.62 for a cheesey loaf that fell apart upon slicing, exposing me to criticism of my sandwich-making prowess. I'm a little sensitive about matters of a culinary creation nature after Sunday's near-legendary 'fish porridge'. No, I didn't blip it.
