The bac

Bac is the French word for a small car ferry. This is le bac approaching Pointe de Grave having crossed the Gironde estuary from Royan.
The service is likely to be interrupted when storm Ciaran arrives tonight, as the waters here can be rather choppy.
The recent winds have 'rearranged' the beaches somewhat, and you can see how the sand has blown over the old railway lines running along the pier.
