Sweetwater Creek State Park
Thursday 26 October
The beautiful weather continues, and is set to continue till early next week, when we will see a significant drop in temperature. This week the temperatures down in Atlanta are mid to upper 70s F (around 25C) - ideal temperature for me - and no chance of rain!
So today, Jen took us to Sweetwater State Park, on the west side of Atlanta. Unfortunately, they are currently working on some of the trails, damaged by erosion, so we couldn’t go as far as the ruins, one of the features of the park - the brick ruins of the New Manchester Mill, an iconic shell of a structure that was destroyed in the Civil War, and a filming location for The Hunger Games. You can just make it out in my top left photo, taken from across the river. So we went as far as we could on the mill side, then crossed the bridge to the other side and took a loop trail, along the river, and then up into the wooded hillside.
When we were finished there, we drove back to the east side of town, and went for an ice cream, before going for another more gentle walk at Mason Mill Park in North Decatur.
I’ve posted three days of blips this evening, do scroll back to see them!
