That would be "a two for one," as in two birds in one shot. Or in this case, maybe even three for one, if you count the ornamental hummingbird.
I have not figured out the local nature center's' summer operating hours yet, so I never know if the feeders will be up when we mosey on by. Today we were in luck!
Here we have a black-headed grosbeak and a lesser goldfinch taking a breather between bites.
I was surprised to see that no hummingbirds were visiting their special feeders put out by the center. So it made me feel better that I have yet to see any hummers at my humble feeder.
In other news, the fuchsia plant I bought to attract hummers has been discovered by my squirrels. They think the red blooms are very tasty, so now I am on water gun patrol to shoo them away!
