Rainy Day Blip…
… I sat down (for what felt like the first time in over a week) with a brew and a pencil and the old book I bought in a second hand book shop when we were away.
Good old Mr L A Doust is very helpful:-
Look for bone and muscle.
Ensure exact proportions.
Be careful with noses and feet.
Set the eyes and ears exactly right.
I’m not so sure about his advice to ‘practise from stuffed creatures in a Natural History Museum’.
I have recently adopted the advice from a local art teacher ‘never use an eraser, leave your errors in, all of the best artists do’. (I don’t know whether that’s true or not but it gives extra lines and ‘life’ perhaps?). On a practical level it saves all the mess from rubbings out!
A happy five minutes!
Right. Soon dinner time.
‘What’s the recipe today Jim?’
