Mallard Momma

I was a little nervous to see this mallard and her babies swim right under the nose of the heron today. It brought to mind a fabulous Nat Geo photo of (I believe it was) a mallard going up against a heron who was going for one of her babies. This heron apparently found the fish plentiful enough to not bother. It was a bit of a zoo though because there were also two pairs of Canadian Geese with larger babies and one crow and one seagull in the mix! I do live in an amazingly beautiful place!
