Savings Banks Museum
I was travelling to Castle Douglas and saw a brown tourist sign for this place, so thought I would take a look. This picture shows a collection of savings banks, which are really cool. The books on the top are banks too, with names on them about looking after money, etc. to confuse burglars. The little table you can see on the right end of the bottom shelf really interested me. I remember seeing a similar item in our loft when I was young(er).
The building itself was the site of the world's first savings bank and for quite a small museum contains a lot of interesting items and information. If you are in the Dumfries area, I reccomend taking a diversion to take a look. The website is here.
