Winter Visitor
This tiny female Ruby-crowned Kinglet looked happy to find our bog. She flitted around in the surrounding trees and shrubs no doubt searching for insects to dine on, and finally dropped down to bathe in the bog's shallow water. She spends her winter here in the South and will head back up North to Canada and even further into Alaska to breed and raise her young. The male Ruby-crownded Kinglet sports a bright red 'crown' which he raises when excited. Now, of course, I'm on the lookout for a male!
