High and Dry

Sisson Arctic Raider sea kayak. Sounds all very dramatic and Paul Caffyn-ish. But not really. I use a traditional eskimo wooden panel which is lovely to use, but that's about as "hard core" as I get.

The last time I had her on the water was enjoying a dawn paddle with The Lovely Ange up in the Marlborough Sounds this year. It had been a while before that since she got a wet bum (the kayak, not The Lovely Ange) but has been paddled around the Bay of Islands, the Mercury's, down in Stewart Island, around the Coromandel, around D'Urville and the outer Sounds as well. Sea Kayaking is one of the very best ways of exploring a coastline. Maybe this summer I'll get out in her a bit more.

But for now she has a dry bum, and the cockpit is filling with rainwater as she waits on our new deck for the next adventure.
