The weather was kind enough for the Rugby Club Fireworks Display to go ahead.

As usual we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy it from our garden for free!  We heard the first few pops and headed out to watch the entertainment.  There were some very impressive ones this year.

The frustration of the day was the regular battle of picking up prescriptions. It is always a frustrating saga.  This time various  items were delayed so we have to return and pick this up later.  More concerning was that Mum had some eye drops that were missing for her glaucoma and the pharmacy said they could not source them. We asked the Drs for an alternative but in what seems a totally crazy scheme, they said they would give us a separate script for the same missing drops on Monday and then we have to trawl around various pharmacies in the vicinity to see if they have any.  If none of them have them we have to get them to write down alternatives and then head back to Drs, let them see the list and decide what to prescribe and then head back to whatever pharmacy in the area has the thing they select!  Needless to say this won’t be quick as the Drs will take a few days to review and produce the new prescription.

Luckily I can easily enough drive about various places to check all this out and can even try the pharmacy in the hospital in Exeter if needed - but how on earth people who don’t have easy access to transport can sort this is a mystery.

You would think in the days of computerised systems they could somehow see what was available and prescribe accordingly.  Getting patients to do the trawling around and info gathering on available medications seems crazy to me.
