Glen Ogle viaduct, autumn
We set off for our weekend away in Argyll after lunch. It took a while before we really felt that we were travelling. This was due to slow, heavy traffic heading out of town, and a hold-up close to the approach to the M9 from the A8020. Once through the jams, however, all went smoothly.
The further north and west we headed, the more beautiful the views - especially the golds of the trees in the autumn sunshine. We took a break at the Green welly shop at about 4pm, and arrived at Loch Melfort hotel just as it was going dark.
Our highlight of the day was music in the hotel bar after dinner. Six musicians on guitars, fiddle, and recorder performed to a mix of about twenty hotel guests, staff, and locals. Their repertoire was very diverse. It included Black is the colour of my true love's hair, The bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond, the theme tune to The Ipcress file, Dirty old town, and Elton John's Daniel. The musicians' play was beautiful, and they also contributed to a lovely atmosphere in the bar. I felt sad that Mummy hazelh wasn't with us because she would have loved the 'concert'.
I blipped the Glen Ogle viaduct on our way to the hotel. The brown autumn view is quite different from the its green equivalent of summer time.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; pilates class; walking (11,494 steps).
