A Day on Cape Cod

First stop, the Greenbrier Nature Center in Sandwich for a little Christmas shopping at the Jam kitchen.  It is in the home of writer Thornton Burgess who wrote the wonderful Old Mother West Wind and Peter Cottontail stories, a favorite of mine as a child.  Then on to lunch at the Dunbar Tea Room and Wine Bar where we met an old friend.  (Extra) Finally, a visit to the amazing Edward Gorey House in Yarmouthport.  I’ve been a huge fan of his work for decades.  The house was full of his illustrations and quirky characters.  The upper left image is from his book The Gashlycrumb Tinies, a macabre alphabet.  He inspired so many later artists, like Tim Burton.  Oh, and the weather was just beautiful!  Gift#306: more wonderful museums.  A link to the Edward Gorey House…
