Borderland

We took the scenic route to Sokolka along our controversial, recently fenced, border. At one point we thought we were about to be surrounded by soldiers who were lining the road. I avoided unwanted attention and didn't take photographs in that area. This is looking West, where we hope to remain but hope that in the future more humane approaches can be adopted towards those fleeing war, famine and poverty. In the past, many answering that description would have been from this region, so it seems paradoxical that it is presently so unwelcoming.
