Drive through the old neighbourhood
(4/11/23)
Friday's are becoming very special. We now join millions of workers around the world having that Friday feeling. G has a three-day weekend, so was home. I worked until 6 PM, and then we got dressed and raced out to the Sol Sky Bar. It was calling us!
The weather is cool enough for us to sit outside the entire time. We left promptly, as we were both tired. We weren't so tired to enjoy a drive through old Dubai, particularly around the Creek. It's where my family, indeed everyone, lived before Dubai started expanding outwards.
We ended up on some narrow one-way roads, which were still a hive of activity at almost 10 PM. I was in a slow-moving queue when the driver of the pick-up truck carrying the mattresses got out and started off-loading his cargo. Unbelievable. Moreso that the other drivers waited patiently and gave him and a veritable band of helpers the time he needed. He delivered four large mattresses, a bed frame and a sofa before he finally returned to the driver's seat and moved on.
There you go. We were home fifteen minutes later. Phew.
