God's Tears

On a cold, wet and utterly uninspiring day today, my wife also tested positive for Covid 19.

And we had a call from the hospital. Her mother aged 94 is being treated for a broken hip after a nasty fall two weeks ago. 

The poor lady has now had a massive heart attack. Not expected to recover. 

She is alone in a bed, on noisy hospital ward, having lost her sight in one eye and having been diagnosed with dementia several years ago. Bewildered and confused. 

And it was all preventable. All avoidable. 

And my wife cannot now go to visit. 

Might not see her mother again.. 

Makes my discomfort pale into insignificance. 

Helpless....
