So, Stop By for a Drink

Audubon calls Northern Flickers 'common-All Seasons' here in North Central Florida. Over the years I've spotted them in the area but seldom are they visitors to our yard. The moving water in our bog acts as a magnet to many of our bird friends. This male Northern Flicker stopped by for a long drink of water from our bog. He didn't seem interested in bathing, just quenching his thirst. The Northern Flicker is the state bird of Alabama where it's known by its colloquial name "Yellowhammer". Check the *extras...for a couple additional photos of this very handsome bird.
