Toots in Solitude

Glenkinchie

A lot, a lot of mud around but the farmer persevered and somehow got his tractor through the fields.
What a honey of a day. Cut away all dead stems and flower heads and sad to say that I did away with all the sunflowers. I would have kept them to seed and let the birds have a good winter harvest but because I'm not here all the time I feel I should keep it tidy. The stalks I also might have kept because they were so mightily strong, and long, they would surely have made jolly good stakes for next years flowers, bushes etc. but we may not be here next year and it's best to leave future tenants a clean slate with as little stuff around as possible.
Donald and I had a bit of a lazy afternoon reading papers and I admit to having a little doze too.
