Power out

Domingos brought high gusting winds and two inches of rain. We lost power at 2am. Reconnected later as evening came in by a four truck team working heroically to fix two lines below us hit by falling trees. Estimates from the help line for reconnection were much later so we were relieved. Salutary to be without power re Gaza and the flood victims in Tuscany still awaiting reconnection.

The torrent is our own Fosso Fontemarcoli. The relatively soft and fractured Apennine Rock formations combined with often torrential rain and rapid run off have allowed it to carve out a deep, almost canyon like course. These are typical of the area and the steep slopes that are slick in wet weather are a hazard for the unwary wandering the woods in search of porcini and chanterelle funghi.
