horns of wilmington's cow

Always make time for switching off... Did a quick sketch of our little bantam cockerel, Dorian, tonight (with earphones in and upbeat music blaring). The wee man is a lesson in never doubting yourself, despite all evidence to the contrary. He's smaller than all of the girls, who are standard sized-chickens, runs away from pheasants who try to sidle up to his flock, and roosts before any of the rest, leaving them to fend for themselves. But he still announces to them all when he's 'found' food (which includes if they've all come running for scraps, and he's last to the party, with the rest already eating), and quite happily crows his dominance from on top of a convenient log or stone (not too high, he can't jump that high....).

Anyway, tonight's drawing was a total switch-off from the outside world (with the music on it's like a creative sensory deprivation tank of sorts). Pondering tomorrow night's subject.
