And the rains came...

This year the peony bloomed unlike last year when it never quite burst out. We had a full bloom for a few days and then overnight the period of stable, dry weather came to and end and we had several hours of quite heavy rain.

As a result the flowers took a terrible battering and the petals are lying on the ground like the feathers of a dead bird. But at least this year we did get some time to savour their colourful presence.
