christmas cactus

you wait for it - you anticipate it - you find yourself looking - for it at a - certain time of year - almost with baited breath - and then, one day - there it is

a tiny perfectly placed - bud on your christmas cactus - it’s one of those things - i always have - hope for but never - count on it to - actually happen until i - see it for myself - up close and personal - i never take it - for granted anymore - because my plant has - just been through so much - trauma over the years - i’m never sure if this - will be the year - it’ll decide to take - a break from blooming

but even if there are - only a few buds - it will give me - great joy and delight - considering what it’s suffered - and seeing this first - bud now is a - wonderful sign that it’s - going to lead to…
