Congratulations

Our lovely neighbours in Salford, Linda and Michael, have been together for thirty years, and today they were married.

For the reception, they arranged for a marquee to be set up outside the Old Fire Station, where there was music and dancing. You can see the happy couple in my photo today.

Michael had asked me to set up some playlists that would fill in between the two live sets, with the stipulation that the bands should be from (or connected to) Manchester or Salford.

Some of the acts were obvious - your Joy Divisions, Durutti Column, The Smiths etc - and some were a little more obscure: I played The Velvet Underground's 'I'll Be Your Mirror' on the basis that, in the early eighties, Nico lived with John Cooper Clarke. What a household that must have been lol

The band consisted of two chaps - one on guitar and one on ukulele - who played a mix of folk songs and covers. The choice of covers was excellent, including Judas Priest's 'Breaking The Law'.

All in all, it was an excellent evening, which is exactly what Linda and Michael deserved.

Spotify playlists can be found here, here, and here.
