Waxwings

The Orkney waxwings seem to be moving south and flocks of 300 are reported on the north Scottish mainland. I hadn't seen any for a few days but noticed a couple in a tree from my door. I quickly replenished the apples I'd been putting out and soon I had several birds feeding, up to eleven. The starlings, which have been hogging all the fruit for weeks, weren't too pleased.
