Sedbergh WI Bookclub

As usual the day after the WI meeting, it’s time for Bookclub. This month we had been reading The Two Lives of Louis and Louise, by Julie Cohen. It’s a story about the difference there is between being born male or born female. As I listen to my books, I struggled to work out whose story it was, especially as the author often used the same shortening of their name for both. We had a long conversation about our own experiences of growing up female and how that differed from our brothers. After all, it’s not that long ago that women were banned from playing football, women even now earn less than men, McDonalds came up too… The book didn’t score well, but we did have very good discussions.
