Ok, who pulled the plug?

This afternoon we headed for the Falkirk Wheel and discovered that a lot of repair/remedial work was happening. The basin at the foot of the Wheel had been drained and contained nothing more than a couple of gulls disconsolately paddling in the mud. On climbing to the top of the wheel, the tunnel under the railway was closed and that stretch of the Union Canal had also been drained, as above. It does look as if some machine had been in to work on the bottom. One of the workmen said they would not be done until March next year!
Although the weather was lovely and sunny, it stayed cold all day and I think we may well get a bit of frost by morning.
