Bicycle sealed bottom bracket bearings.
Bought the lower threaded type to replace a worn one, only to discover that the thread in one side of the frame was wrecked. Too expensive a repair for such a cheap bike, so I'd thought it was time to strip salvageable bits and put the rest in the metal recycling skip. That was the plan, and part of the reason for getting the new bike, but I'm not too keen to wreck the new bike over the Winter, through exposure to all the salt and other muck on the road.
Just in the nick of time, discovered that there are now, as per the upper, threadless bottom bracket bearings available for frames with damaged threads, so will have a go at fitting that instead. Also managed to fix a couple of other things on the old steed, so that it's back on the road, though I will need to change that bearing unit someday.
