A sea view

I took this photograph from the esplanade at Ryde as we walked back from the Co-op with some food for lunch. Today was one of those days where I wish there had been more hours.  As I noted yesterday, we needed to come down to The Island to do work on the flat but, because the date - even the month - of completion was unknown for so long we planned the rest of our lives as normal. So, we had a booking at The Crazy Coqs this evening and we needed to leave Ryde at lunch time.

After much discussion yesterday we decided that we’d be buy a coffee machine.  When we stayed in Shanklin last year, the flat we rented had a nice machine and I think we’d like something similar here. PY has done a lot of research and found a Dolce Gusto machine that meets all of our criteria. Yesterday, we saw it on offer in Tesco but were preoccupied with the carpet machine. Today, we went back and bought it - along with more items for the kitchen.  They also had a good offer on the pods for the machine so we stocked up. We had a lovely coffee later in the day.

I don’t know why we didn’t get lunch at Tesco but we were back before 11am doing some more cleaning work for an hour or so.  Then we grabbed some lunch from the Co-op, returned and we were on the 1:45pm ferry to connect to the 2:17pm train back to Raynes Park. Arriving home almost at 5pm, we had about an hour before being back out onto the train to get to Brasserie Zédel for the 7pm start.

As always, the West End singers who perform the cabaret nights are amazing. Tonight was ‘90s Party Night. Excellent renditions of Relight My Fire, Man, I Feel Like A Woman, Livin' la Vida Loca, and Torn, amongst others. I think the finale, which was a cover S Club’s Reach For The Stars should have been the highlight but early on in the show they did “I'm a Barbie girl, in the Barbie world, Life in plastic, it's fantastic” and I think everybody just enjoyed the ridiculousness of it.
