My Nemesis
Creeping woodsorrel; Scientific name: Oxalis corniculata (Woodsorrel Family: Oxalidaceae)
I've been trying to eradicate this weed for years, but no matter how hard I try, it keeps reappearing. It creeps above ground, often hiding below other plants, and puts down roots at stem joints. If the sheltering plant happens to have vicious thorns (e.g., our fuschia-flowered gooseberry) it makes weeding quite challenging.
I'm not giving in, though the words of one of my favorite Sonny Terry/Brownie McGhee songs seem very apropos -- The Battle is Over, But The War Goes On.
