Running Down Under

I had a really good sleep, then went for a run in the sun this morning, hoping it would help banish the torpor of jetlag and refresh me after too many hours on trains.  It was great.  I ran around Melbourne's Botanic Gardens and along the Yarra River.  Lovely.  It's a modest temperature (about 16°C this morning) with a pleasant cooling breeze.

Afterwards I had some pizza for lunch then went to see the museum in the Old Treasury Building, which was originally built to house the spoils of the gold rush.  It was fascinating to learn something of how the city has developed - and the tragic impacts it had on the first nations people it displaced.

I had a bit of work sorting out to do late afternoon, before heading off to meet the Consul General, team from the Department for Business and Trade, and other folks on this trade mission.  Great to meet everyone over a relaxed drink and some canapes (substantial and delicious) before the real work kicks off tomorrow...
