Almost start time
Today's main activity was later on so a quiet morning was spent, though I did manage to catch a wrong bit of material in my sewing and am having a struggle undoing it, but will get there.
After a good lunch we drove to near North Berwick for a run, 6hrs of running round a 5.5k lap with the winners of the solo and relay events those who'd run the most laps.
It was cold and clear and was a little bit frosty by the time we'd finished. The race started at 4pm, just before sunset, and started through a farm (and liquid mud outside the cowshed), along a field and into a wood. A pleasant undulating section through the wood and then some road (which was a bit tedious later) before returning to the wood and 3/4 way round a lake, up a short hill and back to the start. One side of the lake was fine, the other had 2 muddy sections which were very slippy and clung to the shoes. At the end of the lap there was the opportunity to stop, eat, drink or whatever before starting again.
Mr Rat passed me near the end of lap 6 as he was on lap 7 and we then did another lap together. We could have gone for another lap as it wasn't 10pm but decided we'd done enough and we still had to get home.
The first 2 laps we had the setting sun and the fading light and then wonderful starry skies (when you weren't too busy making sure you didn't fall over). Headtorches were needed for most of it.
P.S. Just looked at the results and discovered I was the oldest competitor and oldest woman by >10yrs - and was far from last so I'm "dead chuffed" as they say.
