Tin Hat

My daughter visited. She has been on a short break to Athens. So much to catch up on. We did manage to stop talking for two minutes to remember the fallen.

This, I think, common conecap fungus, put me in mind of the tin helmets, as worn by our soldiers at the WWI Battle of the Somme. The Brodie helmet, or Helmet, steel, MarkI, was designed by Leopold Brodie. It is also known as shrapnel helmet, battle bowler, Tommy helmet and tin hat. 

My paternal grandfather suffered shell-shock in WWI, never recovered and took his own life by drowning before I was born. Listening now to this morning's ceremony with great sadness.
