Early bird II
I woke up at 3.15 this morning and saw the most lovely sunrise unfold outside. I checked my sun app and saw that I had less then 15 minutes to get out before the sun rose. There were a bit of chaotic moment and thoughts like 'were's the...?', 'Ah, there's the..!' 'What to wear??', 'Do I have the...?', and then I was out the door. Lovely morning! Sky was glorious! Birds singing, gulls shouting and a car or two on the road. I went down to the nature reserve and the stone bridge to see if I could take that perfect shot in that angle I wanted with a fab sky behind. After a couple of not so good shots I went up to the old oak. I didn't hear it, so I think it was asleep. When I went down the path I sometimes heard a snap and then crunching sound... not fun!! I think I killed about 4-5 little snails, even though I looked were I put my feet.
I also woke a bunch of hungry mosquitos, so you can imagine how 'fun' it was to try and take some photos...?
I went up to the oak, put my hand really carefully on it not to wake it and whispered 'good morning'. Then I saw that the perfect photo I wanted to take from this very angle, with the old gravestones in the foreground, wasn't going to happen. To much green stuff to even see the whole bridge. I did try to take some shots, but with all of the unwanted attention from mosquitoes it was really hard to come up with something half decent. When I put my camera in the bag again I saw something red glimmering on the ground in the small rays of sunshine. When I picked it up it was two little sequin hearts. I took them with me. :)
On my way back it started to rain, the mosquitos wouldn't leave me alone and the sunrise wasn't going to be as magnificent as I hoped for. Out on the road again, I saw a faint rainbow so I stopped to take a photo. When I started walking again I saw the second rainbow, strong and bright, so I ran a few steps to get to a better place for a photo. Standing under the other oak, the rain wasn't that bothering and I just smiled at the rainbow and thought that this is why I woke up.
Now I'm of to bed again, for a couple of hours anyway.
You know that place between sleep
and awake, the place you can still
remember dreaming? That's were
I'll be waiting.
