The storm is over

I have apparently used the title After the storm before. Here's hoping that writing that the storm is over is not tempting fate, resulting in a relapse or recurrence.

This morning I woke to rain, wind and greyness. The rain stopped long enough for me to squeeze in a short run, including going out onto the mudflats to try and get close to the birds I could see. None of the half dozen photos was good enough really.

I have then had to spend the day working on a report for the Family Court. All the while the wind and the rain became heavier and stronger. The pohutukawa trees had many broanches of small to medium size blown off, and one or two crashed on the deck and also the occasional one into the glass doors. A little scary. But no water ingress, nothing broken, and late this afternoon the wind dropped and the clouds left.

This was the view eastwards from the cliff edge, about a half hour before sunset. As well as the setting sun lighting up the clouds in the eastern sky, there was a small rainbow above Kawau Island.

This is great in large
