Summiting

The weather forecast suggested the gorgeous clear sunshine wouldn’t last all day, so after breakfast we set off for Tinto Hill (711m)  and headed up the path, not being tempted to keep up with the group in Lycra who set off running up the path before us!
Stunning views even from the lower slopes, and a fair amount of ice (although where the sun had reached this had turned to some mud) so not the easiest surface to walk on despite being a wide path. We all dug in and plodded on at our own pace, then just over half way up we met up and Winsford and M decided to head back down whilst the rest of us pushed on to the top. Very windy but stunning views once we reached the top….we could see for miles in every direction.
We didn’t tarry too long at the top but started down. Mt&H FaceTimed me just off the top and we ended up talking all the way down….delighted to hear it had rained all morning with them when they saw our beautiful clear blue skies!
We all rendezvoused at a little cafe by the car park which served delicious coffee and some good sandwiches and cakes…lovely little place with a cheery wood burner and friendly staff.
From thee popped in to see NadinePierce at Biggar Christmas Fair before heading home. We devoured some smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast for a very late lunch, then lit the fire and settled down to read, knit, do language homework etc and roast some chestnuts on the fire….so lovely to relax after our exertions in this lovely room, watching the clouds build and the rain start. We segued into leftovers for supper and then I had a lovely deep and long hot bath before a very early night. Another lovely day…feels like we've been away a week not just 3 nights and, apart from the aching legs, feel very relaxed and refreshed.
