Waiting for HEMA
One of these days I'll remember to take a picture at the HEMA class as people waving swords around will make a much better blip than the tree and road sign I was next too whilst waiting for my lift for the HEMA class. I thought the light might look fun. I was wrong.
The club had some new foam swords tonight which meant that you could spar without having all the gear. Unfortunatley they still hurt a bit if you take a direct shot to the eye as I found out. Not as painful as a punch to the face, but enough to make you need to sit doen for a few minutes! Also useless in the bind.
Whilst recovering from the shock to my face I was chatting with a chap who correctly identified my accent and who turns out from from Keighley...small world. Apparently he knew a number of people who fled Keighley from Glasgow in the past couple of years, didn't realise we were part of a larger trend. It was nice to have a laugh about the less fine points of Keighley (in an affectionate way!) and drop into the broad Bratfordian for a bit.
