Eildon Hills
Visited Smailholm Tower this morning, where Sir Walter Scott spent much of his childhood. It's a wonderful defensive tower, typical of the Border area. On the way back we stopped at Scott's View and took in this wonderful panorama of the Eildon Hills.
Met F for a late lunch at the Hoebridge Inn, which was superb. Than walked over the chain bridge to the Borders Book Festival in Melrose for the Lay of the Last Minstrel followed by the Knackered Mothers Wine Club
