Not Your Typical Gas Station

Two of the largest businesses in Point Roberts are parcel pickup and gas stations. Canadians ordering goods from US businesses and wanting to avoid delivery charges can have their parcels delivered to one of six depots. There are four gas stations in the Point, because gas is cheaper in the US than in Canada, so Canadians routinely drive across the border to fill up.

This gas station takes full advantage of both business opportunities, and so much more. The colourful signage does not tell the entire story. The ice cream is great and the scoops generous. They make the best cinnamon buns around. The coffee is roasted on site. My favourite is ‘Fog Cutter’…enough said!

Inside, they have an area where you can sit and socialize with friends over an espresso and a nosh, which locals have begun calling Shelly’s…:-)

Oh, they also have a book exchange…and they offer free WiFi.

Had to go down to check on our cabin…and fill up with gas…and get a cinnamon bun…
