Su-a Lee

Today's the day .................... to be captivated

There's no doubt what was the highlight of my day today.  It was listening to the new CD that arrived in the post this morning - the debut solo album, Dialogues, by the Scottish/Korean cellist, Su-a Lee.

The album is a series of duos with 15 renowned musicians from Scotland and beyond.  They include fiddle players like Donald Grant, Duncan Chisholm and Jenna Reid - pianists like James Ross and Donald Shaw - singers like Karine Polwart and Julie Fowlis - and accordionist, Phil Cunningham.  Each track celebrates the musician featured, usually with an original composition by that musician.

It was one of those projects that came out of Lockdown when everyone's world was turned upside-down.  Not being able to meet with other musicians in person, much of the early development work for each track on the album was done via zoom.  The result was an absolutely delightful and original musical collaboration.

In fact, I was so captivated by it all, I had to stay and listen to it, all the way to the end .......................!
