A healthy looking fox nonchalantly walked down some steps in the very busy Princes Street before stopping halfway across the road, to the surprise of many onlookers.  Suddenly as the traffic lights changed it took fright and ran back narrowly escaping being knocked down by a passing taxi which had to brake suddenly.  A bus also had to take avoiding action as the fox rushed past to hide in a deserted open air bar above the Waverley Market.  The poor fox ran with a limp and hopefully did not have too long to wait after two kind people phoned the SSPA who possibly treated it for the wounds.
