Distraction

A day of conflict in a few ways.

My wife and I celebrate 13 years of marriage today. :-)

However, it being fathers day, there was the ever present knowledge that my wife lost her father in harrowing circumstances before Christmas and there is an inquest looming.

So, encouraging our two sons to do something nice for me this morning must have been especially hard for her. I have attempted to provide distractions, but I must face facts, there will be tears. There's nothing I can do except continue being there and carrying on as normally as possible.

Normal for me, includes indulging in a few minutes of photographic self challenge, which resulted in a shot I've wanted to get for a while.

Whilst I upload, the extremely talented Mrs Tom is busying herself in the kitchen to make an anniversary dinner, (we'll be eating out another, less emotional, time) which will also help keep her mind off things for a while. Later, we'll crack open a bottle of bubbly stuff and raise a glass, not just to ourselves, I think.
